Aahat (English title: An approaching sound) is an Indian thriller/horror television anthology series created by B. P. Singh for Sony Entertainment Television. The series premiered on 5 October 1995. One of the episodes of the first season, Abhinetri, telecast in 1998, generated a very high TRP for the show. The episodes of first, second and fifth seasons were half-hourly, while episodes of third, fourth and sixth seasons were one-hourly. Om Puri, Mandira Bedi, Tom Alter, Ashutosh Rana, Shivaji Satam, Virendra Saxena and noted theater personality Satyadev Dubey have starred in the show. Canadian actor, Remi Kaler also worked in the series in 1999 and 2000. The sixth season premiered on 18 February 2015, starring Shakti Anand and ended on 4 August 2015.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The first season was mostly a crime thriller-whodunit with only occasional episodes on the supernatural. After the first season, each story focused on a different aspect of paranormal activity, such as ghosts, zombies, phantoms, undead persons, possessed objects and witches and wizards

The Hypnotist's Eye (Season 1, Episode 45&46)[edit | edit source]

A hypnotist named Makrand who possesses extraordinary powers of hypnotism is killed by his assistant Prateek after the latter has endured playing second fiddle to Makrand enough. While Prateek avoids arrest by removing all the evidences against him, an eye of Makrand is transplanted on a young woman named Anita. This eye proves to be a curse for Anita because whenever she sees anything of the shape of a star, the next moment she experiences a daymare of someone rushing to stab her. Anita's eye grabs the headlines and Prof. Abhay, a scientist, arrives from Delhi to study the eye and demystify the case for the police. From the recurrent incidents of Anita glimpsing an attacker, Prof. Abhay figures out that Makrand's eye retains the imagery of Makrand's murder, and the killer was wearing a shirt on which there was a logo of a star. With Anita's consent, Prof. Abhay removes her evil eye and starts an experiment with the eyeball to view the imagery and identify the killer. On the other hand Prateek, who learns about these happenings from newspaper, realises the danger looming on him and decides to destroy the eye. He hypnotises the hospital employees and the police inspector guarding the eye in the hospital to sleep and enters the experiment room. Before Prateek destroys the eye, Makrand's spirit appears and kills Prateek.
