Birds of Prey (Comic Book)
Birds of Prey was an American comic book series that ran from January 1999 to April 2009, from July 2010 to August 2011, and from September 2011 to October 2014. All three editions followed the adventures of a team of superheroines lead by Barbara Gordon (also known as Oracle/Batgirl), who fight crime in Gotham and Metropolis.
"Between Dark and Dawn" (Series 1, Issues 69 - 72)[edit | edit source]
Huntress poses as a reporter and travels to rural Oregon to investigate a cult. Oracle assures Helena that Vixen has already infiltrated the cult and will be there to bail them out if things go badly. When things do, Helena learns that Vixen has been brainwashed.
"Underneath the Skin" (Series 1, Issues 115 - 116)[edit | edit source]
Huntress and Lady Blackhawk fly to an isolated Pacific island to track down Killer Shark (in this case, the original Killer Shark's enthusiastic grandson). He injects Lady Blackhawk with a mind-control serum to turn her back into Queen Shark, and orders her to lead him to his grandfather's treasure.
"Trouble in Mind" (Series 3, Issues 1 - 7)[edit | edit source]
The team (which at this point has become a very uneasy alliance featuring Batgirl, Black Canary, Starling, Poison Ivy, and Katana) faces off against a villain known as Choke, who is skilled at mind control. Choke has developed a way to make people unsuspecting spies (he can see what they see), as well as turning them into human bombs. The Birds later discover that Choke has also developed a way to directly control people and has created a small army of sleeper soldiers. They take him on, unaware that he can also control them.
