Brenda Starr

Brenda Starr, Reporter (often referred to simply as Brenda Starr) is a comic strip about a glamorous, adventurous reporter. It was created in 1940 by Dale Messick for the Chicago Tribune Syndicate. She is often portrayed as a modern no-nonsense reporter who works for "The Flash" Newspaper.

In this storyline, as she is investigating a famous author, she is brainwashed/hypnotized to respond to a trigger word.

Brenda having dinner,
Brenda's drink is drugged.
It kicks in and she's sent away to be brainwashed.
Her captors talk about how she has been brainwashed and will do everything they command.
She wakes up with only a vague memory of what happened.
She goes home after being assured everything's fine.
She arrives home that night and calls it a day.
Brenda goes to work next day barely remembering what happened last night.
She receives a call and goes into a hypnotic trance after hearing the trigger word "Pulitzer" right in her office. What a lovely blank expression.
Brenda is then instructed to follow several instructions.
She repeats the instructions as commanded.
She receives and repeats more instructions and confirms if that is all that needs to be done. All while in a trance.
She receives the package as instructed and carries out the commands.
They discuss on how they can put Brenda under their control.
Brenda in a trance continues to follow the instructions even when threatened by her editor.
