Gotham was a 2014 - 2019 American crime drama/fantasy series that aired on the FOX television network, based on characters created by DC Comics. Set in the DC Comics fictional city of Gotham, the series traces the early careers of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), who eventually becomes Police Commissioner; young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), who grows up to become the crimefighter Batman; and Selena Kyle (Camren Bicondova), who eventually becomes the criminal Catwoman. Other future Batman foes, such as the Joker, the Penguin, and the Mad Hatter also appear in the series.

Spirit of the Goat (Season 1, Episode 6)[edit | edit source]

The villain of the week, Dr. Marks (Susan Misner), is a hypnotherapist who brainwashes her patients and turns them into the Spirit of the Goat, a serial killer that targets the wealthy elite of Gotham. When Bullock goes to arrest her in the middle of a session, Dr. Marks orders her patient to attack him.

Look Into My Eyes (Season 3, Episode 3)[edit | edit source]

Hypnotist Jervis Tetch (Benedict Samuel) arrives in Gotham to search for his sister, Alice, and hires Gordon to help find her. During the episode his use his skill on multiple persons. First he hypnotizes a man on stage then later in the episode his makes the man kill himself and his wife so that Jervis could have their house. Then he hypnotize Barbara on stage into falling in love with him, then pretends to not love her back; Barbara (who is not good with rejection) comes close to slicing his throat before he snaps her out trance. Finally he hypnotize Gordon, then tries to make him kill himself.

New Day Rising (Season 3, Episode 4)[edit | edit source]

In order to kidnap Alice from the Gotham City Police Department, Jervis hypnotizes a group of wrestlers and makes them into his private army. Meanwhile, Gordon discovers that the hypnotic command to kill himself flares up every time he hears the ticking of a watch or metronome.

Follow the White Rabbit (Season 3, Episode 6)[edit | edit source]

Jervis hypnotizes a bride and groom as well as a young boy, places them in danger, and then forces Gordon to choose between saving the couple or the boy. Gordon chooses the boy, and the newlyweds jump to their deaths.

The Executioner (Season 3, Episode 9)[edit | edit source]

Ivy (Maggie Geha) has gone with an antiquities dealer to his house. She seduces him and make him smell her neck, which she smeared with a potion she made from her plants. His eyes turns Green as he falls under her control. She obliges him to open a vault and then knocks him unconscious.[1]

One of My Three Soups (Season 4, Episode 16)[edit | edit source]

Jervis hypnotizes a guard and escapes Arkham Asylum along with Scarecrow and eighty other inmates. He uses a hypnotic radio signal to place hundreds of Gotham citizens into a trance. The hypnotized people are sent to rooftops and balconies to jump to their deaths, but Jim find a way to order them to save each other instead. Jervis is arrested, but is later freed by Jerome and inducted into the latter's new criminal supergroup ("Legion of Horribles")

Mandatory Brunch Meeting (Season 4, Episode 17)[edit | edit source]

Jerome and his new gang go after an engineer named "Xander Wilde," who turns out to be Jerome's twin brother Jeremiah. Although Jeremiah initially gets the drop on his brother, the Legion arrives and rescues Jerome, hypnotizing Jeremiah's assistant Ecco (Francesca Root-Dodson) into helping them.

That's Entertainment (Season 4, Episode 18)[edit | edit source]

Jervis hypnotizes the pilot of an airship as part of a plan to drop Scarecrow's laughing gas on a crowd of people attending a music festival.

Pena Dura (Season 5, Episode 5)[edit | edit source]

Eduardo Dorrance/Bane (Shane West) arrives in Gotham with his Delta Force commandos to clean up crime in the city. Dorrance and Jim hunt down Edward Nygma, responsible for a deadly terrorist attack, but Jim eventually finds out that Nygma has been implanted with a mind control device and is acting under someone else's control. That person os Dorrance, who then orders Nygma to go after Jim.

13 Stitches (Season 5, Episode 6)[edit | edit source]

Jim manages to break Nygma's mind control chip and has it surgically removed. Later, Jim and the GCPD reveal Dorrance's crimes, and Jim rescues Lee after Dorrance captures her. Unfortunately, Lee has also been implanted with a mind control chip. Dorrance's boss (Nyssa al Ghul) orders Lee to attack Jim, but he uses his experience with Nygma to destroy her chip as well.

Ace Chemicals (Season 5, Episode 7)[edit | edit source]

After Jim and Lee are captured by a group of hypnotized workers at the Ace Chemicals plant, Jeremiah has Jervis hypnotize them into becoming his newest recreations of Bruce Wayne's parents. Bruce finds them entranced in the same alley where his real parents were killed. Jeremiah gloats about how Bruce will not only be forced to watch his parents die again, but he'll also be losing his two closest parental figures. Selena helps Bruce to save Lee and Jim.
