Macross Plus

The year is 2040 and the galaxy is flourishing with several colonies and advanced technology. AI is near perfection and the current top idol is the near-completed Virturoid Idol Sharon Apple. All that is missing are her actual feelings, which instead are supplied by Myung Fang Lone. Sharon's debut concert is on planet Eden, where at the same time, fighter pilots Isamu Dyson and Guld Bowman battle over air superiority for the "Supernova Project." Isamu, Guld and Myung were once childhood friends, but after an accident seven years ago, they went their own separate ways. With Myung back in the picture, the old disputes are once again awakened. And when an unstable and illegal AI technique is installed in Sharon, the situation is worsened. 

It's Time to End This (OVA 4)

After developing a malevolent consciousness, the AI Sharon Apple decides to take over both the X-9 Ghost and the SDF-1 Macross Fortress. She succeeds in doing so by entrancing her audience and the Macross' staff. During her concert in the Atlantis Dome inside Earth's Macross City, Isamu tries to stop her but she hypnotizes Yang who shoots at Isamu but only hits his helmet. Isamu ejects Yang but then is lulled by Sharon's voice into a sleep, and is left to crash to his death. Eventually Myung manages to reach him and brings him out back to consciousness and he manages to destroy the rogue AI.

Movie Edition

The theatrical version (マクロスプラス MOVIE EDITION) consists of most of the footage from the original OVAs, along with approximately 20 minutes of new and alternative footage.

Instead of falling asleep, Isamu starts to hallucinate in which he is flying high and fast in the sky when he is in reality flying towards the SDF-1. When Myung sings and wakes up Isamu, Sharon attempts to take Isamu back, only to have Isamu smash his head on the forward console to stop Sharon from appearing.
