Plot[edit | edit source]

Karen Croft (Butler) lives in suburban Seattle with her husband Otto (Benson), a hypnotherapist, and daughter Jordan (Grace). Karen has been having nightmares about strangling and bludgeoning a young woman (Kimi Alexander) to death. When she sees a picture on a 'missing person' flyer that looks exactly like the woman in her nightmares, she asks her husband to hypnotize her so that she can get to the bottom of her nightmares.

When Karen comes to, she finds herself standing on top of a tall dam, about to jump. Hugh (Zub), a passing motorist, rescues her. She can't remember going to the dam or why she was there. When she gets home, the police are waiting for her. They tell her that they have found the missing woman's body in the family pool house and that all of the evidence (including a taped confession given under hypnosis) points to her as the killer. She is arrested.

Karen starts to doubt her guilt and manages to escape police custody. With Hugh's help, she discovers that her husband was having an affair with the young woman and killed her when Karen found them together. He then drugged and hypnotized Karen into forgetting the crime, using hypnosis again to brainwash her into trying to kill herself.

Otto has turned his creepy romantic attentions to another young woman- Ruth (Cameron), a flirty friend of Jordan, who enjoys the attention. But when she discovers Otto hypnotizing Jordan, she too becomes suspicious. Otto has already brainwashed Jordan, and she helps him subdue Ruth.

Hugh and Karen confront Otto, who orders the hypnotized Jordan to shoot Hugh. He then tells her to go into the house to kill Ruth and then herself, but Karen is waiting in ambush. Karen uses the hypnotic strobe light to snap Jordan out of her trance. She gets the upper hand over her husband just as the police arrive. Otto is arrested.

Later, at the dam where they first met, Karen meets up with Hugh, who survived being shot.
