Il était une fois… l'Espace (English: Once Upon a Time… Space) is a French/Japanese animated  science fiction TV series from 1982, directed by Albert Barillé. The story deals with a team of peacekeepers who travels the galaxy solving disputes and exploring new worlds. Set against a story of a dispute between a dictatorial planet vying for more power and the rest of the union.

In Cassiopea (Episode 9)[edit | edit source]

Lieutenant Mercedes the co-protagonist of the series is nicknamed "Psi" because she is capable of Precognition, Telepathy and hypnosis. In this episode our heroes visit the Cassiopeia constellation, who is rumored to be under a military dictatorship, they end up being captured by the military, in prison Psi encounters the consul of Cassiopeia, who is nicknamed the Dwarf, he claims that his republic is a peaceful one, Psi put him in a hypnotic trance in order to probe his mind for useful information. She finds that Cassiopeia is indeed under the rule of a dictatorship, Psi snap the Dwarf out of trance then resume their conversation normally. Later in the episode she mind controls two guards in order to escape from her prison cell and to rescue her friends.

Psi put one of the antagonists in trance, then she start probing his mind to find the location of some hostages.

City in Flight (Episode 23)[edit | edit source]

In this episode Psi is held captive by the Humanoids a race of artificial humans who want's to replicate her power she refuse to cooperate, they hire a telepath from Cassiopeia who tries to hypnotize her but she managed to resist him, after that they both start projecting illusion in each others mind in an attempt to subdue the other.
