Skies of Arcadia

From Mental Block

Skies of Arcadia, known in Japan as Eternal Arcadia (エターナルアルカディア Etānaru Arukadia), is a role-playing video game developed by Overworks for the Dreamcast and published by Sega in 2000. Players control Vyse, a young air pirate, and his friends as they attempt to stop the Valuan Empire from reviving ancient weapons with the potential to destroy the world.

Skies of Arcadia uses traditional Japanese role-playing game mechanics such as turn-based battles and experience point-based character progression, but puts greater focus on exploration, with the player flying an airship in 3D space. The development team included staff who had contributed to Panzer Dragoon Saga, Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sakura Wars games.

Skies of Arcadia was one of the best-reviewed Dreamcast games, but underperformed commercially. After Sega's exit from the hardware industry, it was ported to the Nintendo GameCube as Skies of Arcadia Legends in 2002.

Silver Nightmare[edit | edit source]

In his third form of the last battle, Ramirez gathers some sort of dark energy and throws it toward one of the party members, making them fall through a vortex-like space before he pulls them back out with silver strings. They reappear by falling out of the vortex in the ceiling the silver strands attached to them as they look up at Ramirez with misty eyes. He orders them to "Fire!", and they will use a Special Move against members of the party and not use the command selected by the player.
