Squadron Supreme

From Mental Block

Squadron Supreme is a twelve-issue comic book miniseries published by Marvel Comics and featuring the eponymous superhero group. A parody of sorts of the Justice League, a superhero team featured in DC Comics, the Squadron Supreme made guest appearances in Avengers, Thor, and The Defenders before receiving their own limited run in 1985.

Change of Heart (Volume 1, Issue 4)[edit | edit source]

When Lady Lark spurns Golden Archer, he makes the incredibly poor decision to go to tech whiz Tom Thumb and ask about the team's new Behavior Modification Device, which the Squadron is using to reprogram criminals into reformed, law-abiding citizens. After stealing the code to operate the machine, Golden Archer kidnaps Lady Lark from her bed and uses the Device to brainwash her into loving him. The next morning, she runs into his arms and embraces him, hoping that he will marry her.

In later issues, the whole thing backfires as Lady Lark won't leave a beleaguered, guilty Golden Archer alone; he is kidnapped by the Institute of Evil and forced to divulge all of his secret codes (yes, including that one); and the Institute storms the Squadron's base to seize control of the machine. Golden Archer is eventually booted from the team for his mind meddling.
